Today, a mass run over a distance of 3 kilometers took place in the Olympic Complex of the capital of Turkmenistan. The event was attended by representatives of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports, the Indian diaspora, diplomatic missions accredited in our country, amateur athletes, and residents of Ashgabat. The event was organized by the Embassy of India in Turkmenistan.
The sporting competition was held under the aegis of Viksit Bharat Run 2025. Events under this slogan are organized with the support of Indian diplomatic structures in various countries around the world.
The run is part of the nationwide initiative "Viksit Bharat" ("Developed India"), aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle, solidarity, and involving citizens in joint sports and cultural activities to ensure the country achieves full development by 2047. This year, the Indian state will celebrate the 100th anniversary of its independence.
The Ashgabat run early in the fresh morning included youth, middle-aged, and elderly participants. In doing so, they expressed their love for sports lifestyle and also supported the relationships between Turkmenistan and India, which are developing in the spirit of friendship and multilateral cooperation.
As Ganesh Haloi, Counsellor and Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of India in Turkmenistan, said, mass runs took place this year in 150 cities worldwide, including Ashgabat. Citizens of various nationalities were involved in both sports and cultural events, stressed the Indian diplomat, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Government of Turkmenistan for supporting his country’s international initiatives.
