On September 30, the football players of Turkmen "Ahal" will play against the Jordanian champion "Al-Hussein" as part of the group stage of the AFC Champions League Two at the Arkadag city stadium. On the eve of the match, the team coaches shared their expectations about the upcoming game at a pre-match press conference.
Opening the press conference, the head coach of FC "Al-Hussein," Joaquim Machado, highly praised the beauty of the cities Ashgabat and Arkadag, expressing gratitude to the Turkmen side for the warm welcome, high-level hospitality, and traditional Turkmen kindness. Speaking about the upcoming match, he stated that his team is set on winning.
"Our team came to Turkmenistan with the goal to play effectively and earn points. We respect 'Ahal' — it is a very good team. I have studied 'Ahal’s' gameplay; its players act very cohesively on the field. The squad is well selected. But we also came here to do our job, which is to win," Machado told journalists.
In the group stage of the AFC Champions League Two, the role of head coach of "Ahal" is performed by the club's youth team coach, Eziz Annamuhammedov, who holds the necessary PRO coaching category.
Declaring his players’ firm readiness for the match against the strong Jordanian opponent, the coach of "Ahal" called on Turkmen fans to support the team.
"As part of our preparation for this important international match, we studied the strengths and weaknesses of the opponent. Accordingly, we prepared a game plan. We are really counting on the support of the fans, who we hope will become our 12th player. On our part, we will try to show fast-paced football and achieve victory," said E. Annamuhammedov.
The second-round match of the AFC Champions League Two in group "C" between "Ahal" and "Al-Hussein" will start at 18:45 Ashgabat time.
