ABU ALI IBN SINA

The physician, scientist, philosopher, and poet Abu Ali al-Husayn ibn Abdullah ibn al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Sina (known in the West as Avicenna) is one of the outstanding figures in our glorious history. He was very talented from childhood and read many books. He began his independent studies at the age of 15 and by 18, he had become an accomplished scientist. The young scientist continued his studies at the Mamun Academy in Gurgench, where he maintained close ties with many scientists. Besides medicine, he was also interested in physics, mathematics, astronomy, and philosophy. During his lifetime, this outstanding scientist wrote 450 works on 29 subjects, but only 240 of them have reached our days. One of Lukman Hekims followers was Jurjani. He wrote continuations of many of the physicians unfinished works. One of Ibn Sinas most extensive works is The Laws of Medicine”, which consists of five books. His medical works were used by scientists from both the West and the East. His encyclopedic work, The Book of Healing also contains philosophical concepts and a wealth of information on various fields of philosophy and science.

Owing to his immense talent, boundless love of science, and service to humanity, Abu Ali ibn Sina was considered one of the greatest scientists in world history. Monuments to this great scientist have been established not only in our country, but also in many countries around the world. His life and work have not only been described in books but also filmed. His creative legacy, medical works, and philosophical ideas are widely used today.
