Students from Turkmen universities won 22 medals of various ranks at the International Student Team Competition in Mathematics (ISTCiM), held at the University of Silesia in Katowice (Republic of Poland) from November 6 to 10.
In the individual competition, Turkmen students achieved an impressive total of 19 medals — 9 gold, 8 silver, and 2 bronze — demonstrating their high level of mathematical training and academic excellence.
5 gold medals were earned by students of the International University for the Humanities and Development.
3 gold and 2 silver medals went to participants from the Magtymguly Turkmen State University.
Students of the Oguz Khan Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan won 3 medals — one gold, one silver, and one bronze.
3 silver medals were awarded to students from the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan.
One silver medal each went to students from the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction and the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas.
One bronze medal was won by a participant from the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University.
In addition, Turkmen students earned three more medals — two silver and one bronze — in the team competition, as well as two incentive awards.
This remarkable success of Turkmen students vividly demonstrated their excellent academic preparation and became yet another testament to the effectiveness of large-scale reforms in Turkmenistan aimed at the consistent improvement of the national education system, enhancement of its quality, and its alignment with international standards.
The International Mathematics Olympiad provided students with an excellent opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and abilities on a global stage. The competition brought together over 150 talented mathematicians from leading universities in Poland, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany, France, and Turkmenistan.
Participants were challenged with complex problems in several branches of mathematics, including mathematical analysis (with topology and set theory), functional equations (including differential equations), algebra and combinatorics, geometry and linear algebra, and probability theory.
The International Mathematics Olympiad in Katowice is held annually, welcoming students from around the world who share a special passion for the “queen of sciences.” The competition aims to support students’ sustained interest in mathematics, encourage the development of mathematically gifted youth, strengthen friendships among students and professors of participating universities, and expand the horizons of international youth cooperation and academic exchange in the fields of science and education.
