Today, countries around the world are actively implementing a new economic approach — the green economy, which aims to protect nature, ensure environmental cleanliness, and promote sustainable development. This concept embraces principles that not only foster economic growth but also safeguard the long-term health and well-being of humankind.
The concept of the green economy first appeared in scientific research during the last century. Later, at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, this topic gained significant attention. In 2012, during the Rio+20 International Conference, the green economy was officially recognized as one of the key pillars of sustainable development.
The main goal of the green economy is to achieve harmony between economic growth and environmental protection. Its core principles include the use of renewable energy sources — solar, wind, and hydropower — the efficient use of natural resources, the development of environmentally friendly production, the improvement of transport systems, and the creation of new “green” jobs.
In Turkmenistan, great attention is also paid to the development of the green economy. The “smart” and environmentally friendly city of Arkadag, is a vivid example of this approach. In addition, projects related to solar and wind energy reflect the country's strong commitment to this important field.
The green economy is a necessity of our time. Protecting nature and ensuring sustainable development require all nations to adopt and advance this path as one of their key priorities.
